Behind the Scenes

The idea for a sequel came around Oct of 2003. After the script was decided upon, we needed a good title. After a long discussion, we all agreed upon Cosmic Chase for the title. It sums up what the movie is about and that's what we like about it.

Production started spontaneously on Dec 12, 2003. According to the work log, I have been working on CC in short spurts lasting a week or two, then a month of doing nothing. The motivation and inspiration is scarce as I try to find the energy to work on the movie. Once summer rolls around, I should have more time and energy to work on it and release it.

This time around, we've switched up everything. We have changed the way production is run. For starters, we have discussed the script throughly, storyboarding scenes and angles along the way. That will enable production to be significantly faster because I won't have to draw different angles until I find one I like. The animation quality is 10x better than that of CB. The amount of detail being put into this movie is nuts. I have taken more steps to achieve an anime feel to the movie by animating more frames and upping the fps. I am taking my time with this movie because I want it to be perfect. The character designs are a lot more well-drawn, so you should be happy with that. As for special effects, they will end up to be better as well. Backgrounds have been upgraded; some are traditional 2D while some are 3D rendered. I think you'll like that part :) Lots of 3D is going into this project, so that's another reason production is slow.

You will be happy to hear that Sonic and the gang will have a role in this movie. It's still mainly about Sonic and Shadow, but there's a plot twist in the 2nd half of the movie and I think everyone will love it. The action gets extremely intense, that's for sure. I guess the only thing left to do is await the release which won't be for many months.

The equipment I'm using for SXCC is Flash MX2004, Flash 8, Photoshop CS2, Plasma 1.0, 3DS Max 6, Anark Studio 2.0, and my Aiptek Hyper Pen USB Tablet.
