Sonic X Cosmic Chase

Concept sketches were drawn for each body part until we had a few to pick from. After the parts were drawn, we kind of just picked what would fit together.

Lots of drawing and redrawing went into the creation of this character. We went through a few ideas as to how the character should look. We didn't want it to be completely geometric and robot-like, so we threw in some organic traits.

This was an early sketch in an attempt to make it look like an organic robotic hedgehog. The basic form stayed throughout the rest of the design and we decided the head was a good start but needed some tweaking.

This is the design and color scheme we decided upon.

This is the model sheet I created for myself for easy referencing while animating the character known as Nu Metal Sonic. He moves and acts like Sonic would while having special capabilities of a machine.

The design process probably took a few weeks from start to finish. He is relatively an easy character to draw, as everything is almost a geometric shape.
